Course Overview
This course reframes how educators think about students with brain differences. Drawing on psychiatrist Gail Saltz’s research, you’ll learn how conditions like dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, depression, and bipolar disorder are connected to real cognitive strengths — and how to find those strengths in your students even when disabilities make them harder to see.
You’ll dig into the science behind what’s happening inside the brain, learn to recognize behavioral symptoms in the classroom, and develop practical strategies for helping neurodiverse students tap into their potential. The course also includes special topics and opportunities to integrate what you’re learning directly into your teaching environment.
About the Author
This is a graduate-level course intended for K–12 educators who have completed a bachelor’s degree. It is recommended that you receive board or district approval before registering with TPAI.
